Nicaragua bans all abortions
Just as we should investigate the impact of gay marriage in European nations, the recent banning of all abortions in Nicaragua should allow research to be done on the impact of pro-life legislation.
Will this lead to all of the horror stories that abortion advocates claim or will this lend support to those in favor of strict abortion laws?

Cuba permits abortions within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy and Colombia recently authorized them in the case of a severely malformed fetus, if rape or incest were involved or if the woman's life was in danger.
Wow, how is it that these less-developed countries are so far ahead of us in protecting the unborn while we kill 5000 per day? I guess we can thank the Catholics for that. Bravo.
The Nicaraguan law prohibits abortion even to save the mother's life? Wow, that's extreme.
I doubt, however, you will get good stats on "back alley abortions." What other stats could you measure? Unfortunately, only botched abortions done on the black market that end up in the hospitals afterwards.
But I am glad they are not murdering children there.

Aaron,
Every time evidence comes back that supports our position that gay marriage does nothing to harm a country, your side brushes it off the table claiming that not enough time has passed. Meanwhile, I'd be willing to bet that Maggie Gallagher's first column on abortion in Nicaragua - say about six weeks from now - will be all the "proof" we need to ban abortion here. Utter nonsense. A country that takes away the right to choice is hopping on a sled at the top of the slippery slope toward every other sort of fascism.

A country that takes away the right to life of the unborn is hopping on a sled at the top of a slippery slope towards eugenics, killing off the weak and elderly, and every other type of anti-child and anti-family sort of abuse of liberty.
