Pointless boycott of Ford

I have no idea why groups like the AFA continue to insist on using petty and ineffective tactics such as their announced boycott of Ford Motor Company. There are much more influential and impactful ways of being salt and light in the culture, but too many Christian groups are content to do the lazy thing and boycott companies.

So, exactly what are you saying here? It seems, from your words, that boycotting Ford for advertizing in gay publications (trying to attract the gay dollar) is "lazy," but that there are more "influential" and "impactful" ways are achieving these goals. What are these "ways" you have in mind? You aren't criticizing the anti-gay AFA for what they want, merely for their tactics. How do you propose a more "impactful" way of realizing their anti-gay agenda? Sounds evil to me.

The AFA employs, at great expense to its donors, professional idiots.

"We want a car company that doesn't sell to fags!"

I mean, who in the hell cares? Seriously? Of all of the issues facing our country, gays driving Thunderbirds is right up there?

Idiots.

Much like what Sam is saying, who cares that Ford advertises in gay magazines? While I may agree with some (I don't keep up with them so I don't really know) what the AFA believes, it makes no sense to issue this boycott.

If their goal is to stop the "gay agenda," how does not buying an Explorer going to do that? Shouldn't they be concerned with other major areas dealing with homosexuality than Ford's advertising?

If they are concerned about the influence of gay culture in our nation, why not be focusing on gay adoption, marriage bills, school ciriculums, etc?

And actually if you read my post I never say anything about "achieving their goals." I said being salt and light in culture. I don't know all their goals so I cannot advocate (or denounce) them. I was talking about being a Christlike influence on culture.

No difference.

Personally, I love what AFA is doing to be pro-family, and Ford's sales are clearly being hurt. They had their biggest loss EVER in 2006. Obviously, other factors are involved, but I could not be more happy to see Ford go down the toilet for their arrogance. They should stop trying to make political statements with their donations and worry about producing better cars.
