Bush to destroy New Orleans environment even more

With the news that President Bush was making his fourth visit to the region damaged by Hurricane Katrina, the environmental lobby rushed out the following press release/Reuters story.

New Orleans, LA - Many environmental experts, such as Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., have claimed that President George W. Bush's policies led to the creation and severity of Hurricane Katrina that devestated almost exclusively poor, African Americans.

While not signing the Kyoto Treaty would have been enough for many presidents, Bush seeks to add insult to injury as he makes his fourth trip to the gulf coast region burning hundreds of gallons of polluting fossil fuels in the process.

An unnamed environmental professor and member of the moderate Earth Liberation Front, said that Bush' continued visits only damage the area more. "The more he flies down from Washington, the hotter it gets down here and the more likely it becomes that a category 6 or maybe even category 10 hurricane will destroy New Orleans. Does he want to kill every minority in our state," asked the member of the moderate environmentalist group ELF.

Cindy Sheehan, who lost her son Casey Sheehan in a senseless war for oil, wonders why the president couldn't have stayed somewhere close, saving on gasoline. "At a time like this when our nation needs a leader who is in the middle of the action, President Bush keeps running back and hiding in Washington. Why can't he stay somewhere in Texas, maybe? That would save millions of gallons of gas and could end this war before more mothers loss their sons, the way I lost Casey," said Cindy Sheehan, who lost her son Casey Sheenhan in a senseless war for oil.

Many experts do wonder why President Bush finds it so necessary to be in Washington when so many hurting people are in the Gulf Coast region. "Why was he not on the first plane down here when the hurricane hit," wondered New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin. "In fact, I had dozens of buses that I wasn't even using. I could have sent one up to get him, if he truly cared about the people. Instead, he wasted gas sending a CIA assassination squad down after me."

Indeed, as Cindy Sheehan, who lost her son Casey Sheehan in a senseless war for oil, and Nagin alluded to: Why couldn't President Bush stay somewhere like Crawford, Texas? That would save this nation tax payers hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, at a time when they are already strapped because of Bush's tax cuts for the wealthest Americans.

Other options were also available to the President that he ignored. Humanitarian, Sean Penn had space for at least one more person on his sinking rescue boat. The president would not be able to sit down, all the seats were taken by Penn's entourage, and he would be asked to occasionally man the red cup and scoop out water, but at a time like this every American, including the president, should be willing to sacrifice.

When the president gives his speech tonight, the public should not be fooled by the massive aid packages that he proposes to help the region. "His actions like not signing Kyoto and burning fossil fuel to view the region speak louder than the billions of dollars in aid. It is obvious he hates black people and the earth," said an unnamed source at the moderate environmental group Greenpeace.
